
What we do
Consultation
The EM Core Director, Dr. Jill W. Verlander and the EM Core staff meet with investigators to determine the best approach to achieve their research goals. Consultations are free.
Service
Our services include fixative preparation, tissue sample processing in epoxy or acrylic resin or polyester wax, sectioning, staining, imaging, and morphometric analysis.
Teaching
We offer personalized training in technical procedures to faculty, staff, and students. Investigators are welcome to be involved in the technical aspects of sample handling and learn how to use the TEM to image their own samples.
Equipment Access
Equipments are available to trained users and include ultramicrotomes, Vibratome®, glass knife breaker, bright field photomicroscope, inverted microscope, all support equipment for solution preparation, sample embedding and resin polymerization, and the Hitachi H7600 TEM equipped with an AMT digital camera.
